Upcoming Firewatch vinyl availability
Vinyl on sale April 1 (also: crosswords & Wordle on YouTube)
Hello!
Thank you for requesting updates on my current and upcoming projects, either by directly subscribing to this newsletter or by opting in to updates on the Firewatch vinyl record Kickstarter campaign. That vinyl repress is the main subject of this email—but keep reading beyond that if you’re interested in my recent YouTube crossword- and Wordle-solving.
Firewatch vinyl availability—soon!
I’m frequently asked whether I’ll be able to sell more units of the Firewatch original soundtrack on vinyl. I wasn’t planning on making more available after the Kickstarter campaign I conducted in late 2020, mainly because I didn’t imagine there would be sufficient demand. But manufacturing defects meant I had to purchase more records simply to finish fulfilling the original order, so I decided to tack on some extra units. (If nothing else, at least I could break even on the cost of the replacements!) The global supply chain breakdown, combined with unexpectedly high demand for vinyl manufacturing, has meant waiting a year for that order to complete.
Now, the records are finally ready! I’ll have a small number of units for sale directly through my Bandcamp site, but I’ve also partnered with several third-party vinyl retailers, including one in Europe, so do browse the various options to try and find the most appropriate one for you. Here’s when and where you’ll be able to buy a record, if you’re interested:
Date: Friday, April 1, 2022
Time: 10am Pacific US, 1pm Eastern US, 6pm BST (5pm GMT)
Retailers:
My Bandcamp site (US-based)
Materia Store (US-based)
Vinyl Luxe Records (US-based)
Black Screen Records (Germany-based)
(Links may not work until the availability date.)
If you’re in Europe, I recommend trying Black Screen first, as shipping will likely be faster and more affordable. And note that while I reside in the UK (which is why, for accounting reasons, my Bandcamp site is priced in British Pounds), my fulfilment house Noonaco is located on the West Coast of the United States, so those records will ship from there.
Solving crosswords (and Wordle) on YouTube
For more than a decade, I’ve been solving the New York Times Crossword—and for the past eight months, I’ve posted a recording of myself doing just that to my YouTube channel each day under the title The Daily Solve.
If you’re interested in crossword-solving, or think you might be open to such a thing, give it a watch! I’ve even heard from people who don’t solve themselves, but enjoy following along with a calm activity involving interesting trivia and vocabulary.
In recent months I’ve accompanied the daily crossword with daily Wordle solves published as YouTube Shorts, meaning all videos are under a minute in length. If you’ve been taking part in the Wordle craze, check those out as well!
Beyond the daily New York Times Crossword and Wordle, I occasionally solve British-style cryptic crosswords and other oddities, some of which are posted to my Patreon campaign. Supporters get bonus solves of various puzzles each week, as well as some other benefits.
Thank you for reading to the end! You can find me on Twitter on my personal account as well as The Daily Solve’s account. I also post a photo a day to Instagram, usually of a location in London.
Cheers—
Chris
