Gone Home Limited Edition Vinyl Soundtrack
Preorders open tomorrow for a 10th-anniversary vinyl pressing of my Gone Home soundtrack
Thanks for opting in to updates about my work! I’m pleased to let you know that iam8bit, known for their high-quality video game-related merchandise, is releasing a new vinyl record of my original soundtrack to the classic narrative adventure game Gone Home, in honour of the tenth anniversary of its release.
This will be a limited run, and preorders begin tomorrow, 19 October, at 9am Pacific/Noon Eastern/5pm UK. As far as I’m aware, this will be the only pressing of this edition, and there aren’t plans for future editions.
The record is being pressed in audiophile-grade 180g vinyl, and includes a digital download.
Gone Home wasn’t my first soundtrack work, but it’s probably the first soundtrack I was particularly proud to have created, as part of a game of which I was proud to have been a part. I’m honoured (and a bit surprised) that, a decade later, this music is still being listened to and released in such lavish form.
The sleeve and record feature artwork by Leighton Gray, Faith Schaffer and Noël Clark, and there’s an obi strip surrounding the packaging. (I didn’t know the term, either—it refers to a strip of paper wrapped around the product, generally associated with collector’s editions, and featuring information that is not contained on the sleeve itself!)
The record is being produced and sold by iam8bit. I believe other vinyl retailers will have some copies as well, so it’s worth taking a look if you have a preferred outlet, but I have no information about which ones will be stocking this release, nor in what quantity.
Finally, my music (or at least my music to which I hold the relevant rights) is also available digitally in just about any of the places you’d expect, including:
Still Solving Crosswords
On an entirely different note, for over two years now, I’ve been solving a crossword every day on my YouTube channel. Each morning, I complete the New York Times Crossword on video, explaining my thought process as I proceed.
I also now also produce a series of much shorter word game videos each day, each typically ranging from 30 seconds to three minutes in length. These include Wordle, Connections, and PlusWord.
Consider checking them out if you’re amenable to extremely relaxing video material!
Thanks again for keeping up with my intermittent updates! Cheers—
Chris
Hi Chris! Glad to see Gone Home getting a release like this.
Any chance of the "Firestarter" collection of Firewatch demos etc seeing the light of day?
